Senior Reporter

Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 per annum.

We’re looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Reporter to join our New York editorial team and help shape Citywire’s coverage of the fast-moving Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) space. This is a high-impact role reporting to the Citywire RIA Editor, producing stories that matter to thousands of wealth managers and financial advisors across the US.

You’ll be responsible for breaking news, writing agenda-setting features, and developing the deep source relationships needed to deliver industry-leading insight. Your coverage will span the full RIA landscape - from M&A and practice management to technology, hiring moves, investment strategy, regulation, and broader wealth management trends.

What you’ll be doing:

• Writing daily news stories that are timely, relevant, and essential reading for the investment advisory community.
• Developing strong sources across the independent wealth management ecosystem to uncover scoops and exclusives.
• Producing high-quality features, interviews, and analysis that add clarity and insight to key industry issues.
• Researching stories thoroughly - including travelling when appropriate - to get the inside track on the world of wealth.
• Collaborating closely with the RIA Editor and wider editorial team to shape ongoing coverage and identify emerging trends.

What we’re looking for:

• Journalism Experience: Proven experience as a reporter or industry-specific journalism training, ideally with exposure to business or financial news.
• Business Journalism Background: Prior experience in business journalism is preferred.
• Writing Ability: Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clean, accurate copy at pace.
• Source Development: Strong ability to build, maintain, and grow reliable industry contacts.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the wealth management sector or broader financial markets, or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
• Proactive Mindset: A resourceful, enterprising approach with the confidence to pursue original stories and uncover new angles.
