Job Description

Principal Product (UI/UX) Designer

About Youtopia

At Youtopia, we're redefining how people experience health, transforming food into medicine through technology, personalization, and human connection. Our platform bridges diagnostic testing, nutrition science, and data-driven meal planning into a seamless system that empowers individuals and families to eat, live, and feel better, what we call precision nourishment automation.

We're building the digital infrastructure for personalized wellness. Where data meets delight, and the healthy choice is the easy choice

Our design team is the creative force making that future tangible. We blend insight, empathy, and craft to turn complex systems into experiences that feel simple, personal, and joyful.

The Role
We're looking for a Principal Product Designer to elevate and unify Youtopia's brand into our product experience across our entire wellness ecosystem. This is a hands-on, in-office leadership role for a design expert who thrives at the intersection of systems thinking, product innovation, and human-centered design.

You'll drive design excellence across multiple platforms — branding, guiding the visual language, user flows, and interaction patterns that define how our users engage with their health, their food, and their families.

In this role, you'll partner directly with our product, engineering, and science teams to architect experiences that are as emotionally resonant as they are technically precise.

What You'll Do

Design Leadership & Craft

  • Be the leading force in ensuring the Youtopia brand is consistent through all channels
  • Lead the design of end-to-end product experiences for wellness, diagnostics, and nutrition planning.
  • Translate complex data and behaviors into simple, elegant, and engaging interfaces.
  • Elevate our design system, evolving Youtopia's patterns, components, and accessibility standards into a cohesive design language.
  • Build experiences that blend human warmth with digital intelligence, creating trust and delight in every interaction.
  • Drive a culture of feedback, iteration, and high craft within the design team.
  • Design beautiful and compelling graphics, iconography, and logos

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product and Engineering leads to shape product vision, strategy, and execution.
  • Advocate for user-centered design throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions to align teams around user journeys and insights.
  • Present and defend design decisions clearly to executives, cross-functional stakeholders, and peers.

Research & Systems Thinking

  • Lead or contribute to qualitative and quantitative research that uncovers unmet user needs.
  • Synthesize insights into actionable frameworks, personas, and journey maps.
  • Apply systems thinking to ensure design consistency and scalable patterns across web, mobile, and operational tools.
  • Use data and A/B testing to iterate and validate design decisions.

Mentorship & Culture

  • Mentor mid- and senior-level designers, helping them refine their craft and strategic thinking.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Youtopia's design principles and creative culture.
  • Champion inclusion, accessibility, and emotional resonance in every product experience.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in UX/Product Design with a proven track record of shipping exceptional digital products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field is required.
  • Expertise in branding, interaction design, systems design, and visual and graphic design, with mastery in at least one.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design methodologies, from discovery to delivery.
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, from insight to system, concept to craft.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma, FigJam, and component-based design workflows.
  • Experience building and governing large-scale design systems that balance consistency and creativity.
  • Skilled collaborator comfortable working in high-trust, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong communication skills, able to articulate complex design rationale with clarity and confidence.
  • A growth mindset, you seek feedback, embrace iteration, and elevate those around you.
  • Passion for health, wellness, sustainability, or food as a force for good.

Bonus Experience

  • Experience designing for AI-assisted, data-driven, or personalization-based platforms.
  • Familiarity with health, nutrition, or consumer wellness domains.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility and inclusive design standards (WCAG, ADA).
  • Comfort working in an environment of rapid iteration and evolving product vision.

Why Youtopia?

  • This is your opportunity to join us in our mission to simplify health and nutrition for everyone . At Youtopia, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that makes a real difference in people's lives.
  • Daily collaboration in our Lakewood headquarters where design, engineering, and food come together to shape the future of wellness.
  • Competitive Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits that Support You:
    • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
    • Short-term disability and life insurance
    • Paid time off to recharge and reflect
    • Paid holidays
  • Compensation Range: $140K to $170K

At Youtopia, design is not decoration, it's transformation. You'll have the freedom to invent, the support to refine, and the impact to change how people eat, feel, and live.

We believe that the intersection of technology, nutrition, and empathy can redefine health for millions. If you're ready to build experiences that heal from the inside out. We'd love to meet you.
