A well-established and expanding law firm in NJ is seeking a Financial Services, Restructuring & Bankruptcy Associate Attorney to join its financial and lending practice team. This position offers exposure to a wide range of corporate, real estate, and restructuring matters, providing opportunities to work collaboratively with senior attorneys and gain hands-on experience in complex transactions. The firm values mentorship, teamwork, and delivering client-focused solutions across multiple practice areas.
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Practice Area: Banking & Financial Services, Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights, and Real Estate
Location: Roseland, NJ (hybrid - 4 days in-office & 1 day remote after 90 days)
Billing Requirement: 1,800 hours annually

What you’ll do:
- Draft, review, and negotiate documentation for secured lending and commercial loans.
- Assist clients with restructuring strategies, forbearance agreements, and distressed asset management.
- Provide support on bankruptcy filings and act on behalf of creditors in negotiations and plan confirmations.
- Conduct due diligence and support transactional work in corporate acquisitions, real estate deals, and lending arrangements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth execution of client matters and effective workflow in a hybrid work environment.
- Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Requirements
What you’ll bring:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the New Jersey Bar required; New York Bar preferred.
- Approximately 4+ years of experience in at least two of the following areas: bankruptcy, banking/finance, real estate, or corporate law.
- Experience with loan documentation, workouts, restructuring agreements, and creditor representation.
- Strong skills in contract drafting, document review, and legal research.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities.
- Comfortable managing multiple engagements and deadlines in a hybrid or flexible work setting.
Preferred skills:
- Representation of lenders or financial institutions in secured financing transactions.
- Understanding of UCC regulations and lender liability considerations.
- Experience with complex bankruptcy proceedings or asset restructurings.
- Familiarity with real estate financing, leasing, or acquisition transactions.
- Knowledge of corporate governance, M&A, or transactional support.
- Proficiency with legal technology tools such as DocuSign, iManage, or equivalent platforms.
