The Division of Engineering Services (DES), Program/Project Management and Office Engineer (PPM&OE), is recruiting to fill a Senior Transportation Engineer (Sr TE) (Specialist), position located in Sacramento.

Under general direction from the Chief, Office of Project Delivery & Structures Contract Management, the Contract Manager, a Sr TE (Specialist) is the authorized representative of the State of California responsible for procuring, administering contracts, and monitoring the consultant's performance to ensure compliance with all contract provisions and to ensure the efficient use of state funds to produce the maximum value for our tax dollars.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans exam. Working Conditions

Position located at 1801 30th Street, FMP 1, Sacramento, CA 95816, Sacramento County 

Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Special Requirements

• This position(s) requires(s) a valid Professional …License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers for appointment. The incumbent must have an active Professional Engineering License from the State of California.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

• Statement of Qualification (SOQ) is required.

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Please follow the instructions below; failure to include and complete the SOQ as instructed may result in the SOQ not being considered and in disqualification from the interview. Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12-point Arial font.

• Describe how your experience and expertise are aligned with the role and responsibilities stated in the position duty statement.

• Describe your experience in interpreting and implementing policies and procedures with examples.

• Provide examples of where you used communication and negotiation skills to manage conflicts.

• Demonstrated experience in budget management with examples on how data analytics was effectively used to manage programs/ projects/ contracts.
