Description of Department:

The Interdisciplinary Studies Department houses a vibrant, interdisciplinary group of faculty whose teaching, scholarship, and outreach centers on addressing challenges that cross disciplinary boundaries across multiple scales. Successful candidates will be collaborative team players who can contribute to developing and teaching high-quality online, hybrid, and in-person courses, who are student-centered, and who are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Interdisciplinary Studies Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position in Integrative Professional Studies.

Compensation: Base salary range ( begins at $62,000 commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Description of Responsibilities:

SUNY Oswego seeks a tenure-track faculty member to support its Integrative Professional Studies (IPS) program, which serves adult learners with prior college, work, or military credit seeking a bachelor's degree. The IPS program offers BA and BS degrees with five focus areas and embedded micro credentials, catering to individual needs and optimizing transfer and prior learning credit. Ideal candidates will be passionate about serving adult learners, understand their unique needs, and have experience in advising, mentoring, and advocating for credit for prior learning. They will expand professional development pathways (including partnerships), serve the division, university, professional associations, and community, contribute to application courses aligned with prior learning assessment, and collaborate on program strengthening.

Required Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in a field relevant to the IPS program (social sciences, communication, organizational or vocational development, business, education, etc.).

  • Experience teaching adult undergraduate and/or graduate-level university courses online.

  • Experience working with, teaching, and/or mentoring diverse groups or students.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or research in adult learning and professional studies

  • Experience developing online undergraduate and/or graduate level university courses.

  • Demonstrated ability to create partnerships and work with external partners.

  • Ability to contribute to multidisciplinary curriculum development.

  • Potential for or demonstrated appropriate academic leadership experiences.
